Dr Jayashri Sharma

Former Faculty, School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi

Jayashri graduated in Medicine ( MB.,BS) from the Armed Forces Medical College Pune in 1968 and post graduated from Poona University in 1973 with an MD in Medical/Clinical Physiology.

As an Associate research fellow, she assisted with the set up of an Animal Tissue Culture Laboratory, with Hela and Vero cell cultures in 73-74 at the National Chemical Laboratory in Poona.

Jayashri Sharma was appointed a Senior Scientific Officer in 1975, with the Ministry of Defence Government of India at the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences and pursued Stress factor studies in High Altitude, Heat and Immunity. Derived the Non Invasive Re-breathing Cardiac Output measurement in healthy volunteers and attempted Thoracic Impedance Phlethysmography. Studied leucocytic variations in High altitude in healthy volunteers. 

Jayashri Sharma was appointed Faculty at the School of Environmental Sciences at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1976-2006 to develop the courses in Environmental Physiology and Medicine in Normal and Abnormal environments and disruptions in Medicinal Ecology. She developed research projetcs for MPhil and PhD programs with adequate publications of their work. Was deputed to be the Occupational Physician with the Ministry of Health at Bahrain 83-85. Was a Occupational Health Consultant with WHO/ EMRO for labour migration and occupational health concerns.
