WELCOME

The Institute of Hospital Engineering, Australia (IHEA) are pleased to invite you to the OandMs IHEA Healthcare Facilities Management Conference (HFMC 2016) to be held on 19 -21 October 2016 at Adelaide Oval, South Australia.

“The only constant is change.” We have all heard this quote (attributed to Greek philosopher Heraclitus) but there is plenty of evidence around us in our working world that this saying holds true. Who hasn’t faced at least some of the following changes as they try to navigate their increasingly complex working lives - emerging  technologies, reducing  budgets, new roles & responsibilities, changing service delivery models, regularly changing organisational models & senior management personnel, and new rules & standards governing our work?

  • Changing (reducing) budgets
  • New roles and responsibilities
  • New technologies
  • Changing models for the delivery of facilities management / engineering services
  • New rules and standards governing our work
  • Regularly changing organisational models and senior management personnel

What challenges and opportunities do these changes bring? How did we respond? Is there a better way?

This year's Conference theme is 'Managing Change / Changing Management' and the conference aims to give participants the information and skills to succeed in an environment of change. Streams will include:

  • Health Transformation / Capital Projects
  • Risk & Emergency Management
  • Developments in Healthcare Facilities Management
  • Sustainability, Energy Efficiency & Climate Change
  • Infection Control through Improvements to Water, Air & Steam Quality
  • People Management

The 2016 OandMs IHEA National Conference in Adelaide in October 2016 aims to provide some insights into these issues (realities?), to provide delegates with some solutions / information to apply to their work in future and to provide access to new systems, processes & equipment to improve the delivery of healthcare engineering and other facility management services. The theme for this conference will be “Managing Change / Changing Management” and will address the changing environment for facilities managers and hospital engineers. Various streams addressing Risk Management, Change Management, People Management and Energy / Facility Management will highlight the challenges of facilities management and the opportunities available to address these challenges. The conference aims to bring together all the key contributors to the delivery of healthcare services (including hospital engineers, facility managers, risk managers, quality personnel, infection control practitioners, corporate services managers, service providers, and suppliers) to hear details of these challenges and how they have been successfully addressed across healthcare organisations. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange information on current developments, to network with their peers & key players in the industry and to take home practical, implementable solutions to some of the problems in today’s changing healthcare world.

This is a conference relevant to all health facility professionals from all components of the healthcare industry and we look forward to seeing you in Adelaide in October 2016.
