A final year student of the University of Technology Sydney, studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and Mechatronics), Bachelor of Medical Science and a Diploma in Engineering Practice. This research is from my thesis (capstone) which was undertaken for one year as an investigation into field hockey face and head protection systems. Testing was done to determine whether the face masks worn on penalty corners were adequate for injury prevention and recommendations on how to improve them were made. The need for standardisation for protective face masks was also raised, to ensure player safety for the future of the sport.
