Sovann is currently working as road safety consultant to his clients to manage road safety projects focusing on drink driving prevention, but not limited to other related risk factors such as excessive speed, non-helmet use, seat-belts, young/novice driver, inadequate visibility and infrastructure safety facilities. He’s also coordinate a Cambodia-China Friendship for Road Safety Project that focusing on star rating roads assessment and building capacity of relevant local engineers and road safety professionals. He was a former Country Programme Manager covering Cambodia and Lao PDR of the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP). He has working experience more than 10 years in public health sector, and participated in the teamwork for promotion of environmental health, water and sanitation, occupational health, tobacco control, disaster management, and injury prevention. He provided technical advice to institutional and individual capacity building initiatives for government counterparts, NGOs, relevant actor from grassroots and media agencies. Through his management on advocacy grant programmes, he also provided technical assistance to NGOs, Cambodian Red Cross Society and government ministries/institutions – new road traffic law promulgated, road traffic law enforcement increased nationwide, and alcohol control law drafted. Before he joined GRSP, Sovann has professional experiences with WHO Cambodia in road safety and injury prevention. He has participated in international Train-the-Trainer (TOT) programmes for road safety and advocacy in Switzerland, United of Kingdom, Hungary, Netherlands, France, and United State of America. He holds two (2) master degrees in Business Administration and Social Science of Public Health.
