Dr Lauren Petrass is a Senior Lecturer with the School of Health Sciences and Psychology at Federation University Australia. Lauren has undertaken considerable research in the aquatics area, primarily investigating the role of parental supervision in preventing child drownings. Lauren has also conducted research to determine the aquatic and water safety knowledge, skills and behaviours of adolescents and young adults, which included the evaluation of a short water safety intervention program. As a result of this research, Lauren has published in a range of well-regarded international peer reviewed journals, and presented her work at national and international conferences.
