The Australian Coastal Society, Reef Catchments and the Queensland Coastal Conference organising committee are pleased to invite abstract submissions for the 6th Queensland Coastal Conference to be held at Lure Abell Point Marina, Airlie Beach in the beautiful Whitsundays on the 4-7 September 2017. 

This year's conference theme is 'Queensland Coastal Conference - 10 Years In The Making' 

Topics of Interest

The program committee encourage people to share their experience, research or current work relating to all aspects of coastal management including tourism, community engagement, policy, planning, science, engineering, and natural resource management. When submitting your abstract, please select which stream best suits.

You can nominate to be considered for the following presentation modes: 

ORAL PRESENTATION: Oral presenters will have a 20 minute time slot within the conference program (15 minute presentation followed by 5 minutes for Q&A). If there is insufficient space in the program for your oral presentation, you may be invited to display a poster instead. 

POSTER PRESENTATION: Posters will be displayed at the venue during the conference. Attendees will be able to view your poster during all catering breaks.

5-MINUTE RAPID FIRE PRESENTATION: Option for oral presenters to have 5 minutes only within the conference program.

WORKSHOP PRESENTATION: Opportunity for authors to present within the optional workshops being held on Monday 4 September. The workshop will be an optional extra for delegates to attend.

Formating Requirements


  • Title should be a maximum of 150 characters in length


  • Enter name/s of author/s on form
  • Check the box for those authors who are presenting
  • Each author needs to be listed separately 
  • Include professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof) when entering the author/presenter names


  • The online form will not keep any formatting you have created from a Word document; simply enter your abstract into the content box provided
  • Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words written in the English language 
  • Do not leave blank lines between paragraphs 
  • Use standard abbreviations only
  • Do not use abbreviations in the title

Peer Review

  • All abstracts will be subject to peer review by the program committee.
