GENERAL INFORMATION

Where is the conference?
The 2019 ASAM Conference will be held at The Westin Sydney, New South Wales. 

Will there be parking available at the venue?
The Organising Committee recommends delegates use public transport for travel to/from the conference, as the venue is located in the Sydney CBD. Peak hour traffic will affect travel times.  

The Westin Sydney is situated above a Secure Parking car park, which is operated separately to the hotel. Rates and access information can be found by clicking the below link.

Do I need a visa to visit Australia?
Click here to visit the Australian Government website to check if you require a visa.

ASAM and the Conference Organisers hold no responsibility for the application and process of any entry requirements to the country. 

What do I do if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
In the event of flight delay or cancellation, delegates should contact their airline to discuss options. We (Iceberg Events and ASAM) do not accept any responsibility for airline management of delays and/or cancellation. We recommend that all delegates have valid travel insurance.

I have a special dietary requirement, how is this managed at the conference? 
When you complete the registration form, indicate your special dietary requirements when prompted. This information will be provided to the venue to ensure a meal will be prepared for you at each conference catering break and social function. Please introduce yourself to the venue staff onsite.

Will there be free WiFi?
Free WiFi will be available for delegates on the conference floor. The WiFi access code will be supplied to you onsite at the event.

PROGRAM

Where can I find the program?
The program will be made available in the coming weeks. Click here to view the online program which is updated when program changes are made, and should be used for making travel arrangements. To receive an email notification when the program is available, please click here to subscribe. 

Will there be a printed program?
Yes, the conference program will be printed within the pocket program and will be located in the back of your name badge. No handbook will be printed. 

Can I claim CPD points for the ASAM annual conference?
Application will be made to the RACGP for this activity to be accredited for 40 Category 1 points as part of the RACGP QI & CPD Program in the 2017-19 Triennium. ASAM is an authorised provider of accredited activities under the RACGP QI&CPD Program. Application will be made to CASA, ACRRM and ACAsM to have the program accredited.

Can you tell me more information about the HIMS Australia Advisory Group Conference and AGM?
The 2019 HIMS Australia Advisory Group Conference and AGM will be held alongside the ASAM Conference on Friday 20 September 2019. Click here for more information.

REGISTRATION

How do I register?
Attendees can register via the online registration form. Click here to read information about registering to attend the conference. If you require assistance finalising your registration, please contact the Conference Organisers

Is ASAM membership required to attend this conference?
No. However, ASAM and AMSNZ members are eligible for discounted registration. 

Can I transfer my registration?
Registration is transferable in the event of a cancellation. All transfer of registration requests must be made in writing to Iceberg Events via email. Click here to view the terms and conditions. 

Can registrations be shared?
No. Each registration is limited to one delegate.

Can I bring guests to the social functions?
See the social functions section below.

What currency will my registration fees be charged in?
Registration fees are charged in Australian Dollars (AUD). 

Is there Australian GST applicable to my registration fees?
Australian GST is charged on registration fees and is outlined on your tax invoice. 

When will I receive my confirmation letter and tax invoice?
Standard processing time is 24 hours. Your confirmation email will include;

  • Confirmation letter listing you registration selection, optional extras and accommodation details (if selected)
  • Tax Invoice 
  • Important links to the conference website


​What do I need to bring with me to the registration desk onsite?
We recommend bringing your confirmation letter as this outlines your registration details and additional tickets to the social functions. If you are  replacing a colleague's registration, you will be required to present identification at the registration desk. 

Are there any discounts?
ASAM and AMSNZ members receive a discounted member rate. The other discount available is earlybird registration.

ACCOMMODATION

Who do I contact to make an accommodation booking?
Special accommodation rates were available to delegates of the conference at The Westin Sydney, however the group accommodation block is now sold out. We recommend delegates source accommodation at nearby hotels as soon as possible. 

I need to make a change to my accommodation booking, who do I call?
Please contact Iceberg Events if you have any enquiries or changes to your accommodation booking. 

Is breakfast included in my accommodation booking?
Breakfast is not included in the delegate rates. Breakfast will be available for purchase if you wish to eat at the hotel. 

What do I need on arrival to the hotel?
If you have booked accommodation via Iceberg Events and the online registration form, you will need to provide your name to hotel reception. You can also print your confirmation letter with your accommodation details. 

Why is there no GST showing on my accommodation invoice from Iceberg Events?
GST is not charged on your initial booking with Iceberg Events, as it is considered a deposit until you have stayed at the hotel. 

To claim GST on your accommodation, you will need to request a receipt following your stay directly from the hotel or Iceberg Events.

Will there be a welcome reception?
The welcome reception will be held on Thursday 19 September 2019. Click here for more information. 

Will there be a conference dinner?
The conference dinner will be held on Saturday 21 September 2019. Click here for more information. 

Can I bring guests to the social functions?
Yes, additional tickets are available for purchase for partners and other guests.

I can't remember if I purchased tickets to the social functions?
You can check your confirmation letter which lists your registration type and additional tickets. Otherwise, please contact Iceberg Events to confirm your registration details.

What will the weather be like?
During September, average maximum temperatures range from 16°C - 20°C.
