Keeping with the theme of the conference – ACT, the Dbi Scientific Committee wanted to bring the T for Technology forward and introduce Mentimeter.
Mentimeter makes presentations fun and interactive by adding questions, polls and quizzes. The audience uses their smart phones or devices to connect to the presentation in real time. Mentimeter is accessible for screen readers and braille devices, and easy to use for everyone, even you “non-techies”!
The free app is available in the Google Play Store or App Store on iOS Devices. All you need is a device, a data connection or Wi-Fi and willingness to try something new! If you don’t have a device, we have allowed for multiple entries from one device, so meet someone new and connect with the person beside you to share! Making new friends is a bonus feature.
So take a minute prior or during your travels to the 17th Deafblind International World Conference to download Mentimeter.
Mentimeter has been sponsored by your Canadian friends at DeafBlind Ontario Services for use throughout the conference.
To connect onsite at the conference:
- Download the app via the links below
- Connect to the DBAV ListenEverywhere WiFi connection when in the meeting room
- Code is dbavaudio
If you require assistance, let the registration desk know and we will contact the AV team.
A hearing loop app will be available for conference delegates to access during each session from Tuesday 14 - Friday 16 August.
Delegates who require hearing assistance at the conference, will be instructed to download the "Listen Everywhere" app that works on IOS or android devices in the important information email sent one week prior to the conference.
When at the venue, delegates in the room will be able to connect their device to the "Listen Everywhere" network and then use the app. All the meeting rooms will appear on the app and delegates simply select the room they are in and the sound from that room will come through their device.
For those delegates who already have a Bluetooth link from their phones to their hearing aids, they will be able to hear the audio via this link.
Need assistance onsite? Volunteers will be available at the conference to provide assistance for you to connect your smart device to the apps. If you are unable to connect to a smart device, please see the volunteer desk for assistance.
