What browser should I use when accessing the conference website and registration forms?
Use either Chrome or Firefox. If you are have technical issues with accessing any of the conference website pages, please contact the Conference Organisers by phone.

What is the official language of the DbI World Conference 2019?
The official language of the conference is English. All speakers and presentations will be conducted in English. Platform interpreters will be provided during the plenary sessions at the conference (August, 13-16 2019). Deafblind delegates must find and pay for their own personal interpreters. Do I need a visa?

What is the conference dress code?
We recommend business or smart casual attire for the conference sessions. Session rooms are often cooler than many people find comfortable, so we recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket. 

I have a special dietary requirement, how is this managed at the conference? 
When you complete the registration form, indicate your special dietary requirements when prompted. The Conference Organisers will pass this onto the venue to ensure a meal will be prepared for you at each conference catering break and social functions (if you are in attendance). Please introduce yourself to the venue staff onsite.

CONFERENCE VENUE

Where is the conference?
The conference will be held at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa, Gold Coat, Queensland. Click here for further information regarding the venue.

Will there be free WiFi?
Free WiFi will be available for delegates on the conference floor. The WiFi access code will be supplied to you onsite at the event.

Will there be parking available at the venue?
The Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa offers guests two levels of car parking located beneath the hotel. Parking charges are as follows:

  • Up to two hours $2.00
  • Up to five hours $5.00
  • 24 hours $15.00

Pay stations are located in the car park for ease of payment prior to departure. Valet parking is charged at $25.00 per vehicle per day. 

PROGRAM 

Where can I find the program?
Click here to view the online program which is updated when changes are made. Additionally, the program will be made available to delegates via a Conference Program provided within delegate satchels. 

REGISTRATION

How do I register?
Click here to complete your online registration. We recommend using either Chrome or Firefox browser to complete this.

What currency will my registration fees be charged in?
Registration fees for the conference are in Australian Dollars and include 10% Goods and Services TAX (GST).

Can registrations be shared?
No. Each registration is limited to one delegate and cannot be shared by two people swapping.

Can I transfer my registration?
Registration is transferable in the event of a cancellation. All transfer of registration requests must be made in writing to the Conference Organisers via email. Click here to view the registration terms and conditions. 

What currency will my registration fees be charged in?
Registration fees for the conference are being charged in Australian Dollars and are inclusive of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Can I cancel my registration and get a refund?
All cancellations must be made in writing to Iceberg Events. Cancellations received prior to 12 June 2019 will be refunded less a $99 administration fee. Cancellations received on or after 12 June 2019 will not be refunded, although substitute delegates are welcome. Contact the Conference Organisers to discuss any cancellations. 

When will I receive my confirmation letter and tax invoice?
Standard processing time is 24 - 48 hours. If you register on a weekend, you will be emailed the next business day. Your confirmation email will include;

  • Confirmation letter listing your registration selection, optional extras and accommodation details (if selected)
  • Tax Invoice 
  • Important links to the conference website


What do I need to bring with me to the registration desk onsite?
We recommend bringing your confirmation letter with you as this outlines your registration details and if you have booked additional tickets to the social functions. If you are replacing a colleague's registration, you will be required to present identification at the registration desk. 

Is there a discount for not-for-profits?
Discounts are available for low-income countries and the earlybird registration, which can be found by clicking here

How can I register my personal interpreter/aide?
A reduced fee is available for your personal interpreters/aides. Click here for more information about registering your personal interpreter/aide. 

Is there any financial assistance available to attend the conference?

ACCOMMODATION

What accommodation rates are available?
Special accommodation rates are available to conference delegates at the conference venue. Click here for more information about accommodation.

Who do I contact to make an accommodation booking?
Special accommodation rates are available for delegates of the conference. Click here for more information. Accommodation bookings are managed by the Conference Organisers.

I need to make a change to my accommodation booking, who do I call?
Please contact Iceberg Events if you have any enquiries or changes to your accommodation booking. Iceberg Events are managing the group booking at the conference venue; the hotel will instruct you to contact Iceberg Events directly. 

Is breakfast included in my accommodation booking?
Breakfast is included in the delegate rates we have made available. Refer to the accommodation page for further information by clicking here.

What do I need on arrival to the hotel?
If you have booked accommodation via Iceberg Events and the online registration form, you will only need to provide your name to hotel reception. Click here for check-in and check-out times. 

Why is there no GST showing on my accommodation invoice from Iceberg Events?
GST is not charged by Iceberg Events for your accommodation, as it is considered an accommodation deposit. If you need to claim AU GST on your accommodation, you may choose to request a receipt following your stay directly from the hotel on check-out. 

SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

Where can I find out information on the social functions?

Will there be a Welcome Reception?
The Welcome Reception will be held on Monday 12 August at the Poolside, Surfers Paradise Marriott. A ticket to the Welcome Reception is included for full conference registration. 

Will there be a Conferenc Dinner?
The Conference Dinner will be held on Thursday 15 August in the Ballroom, Surfers Paradise Marriott. A ticket to the Conference Dinner is not included in registration; delegates must purchase a ticket to attend via their webform when completing their registration.

Can I bring guests to the social functions?
Delegates are able to purchase additional tickets to the social functions for accompanying persons. Additional tickets must be purchased for these individuals.

I can't remember if I purchased tickets to the Welcome Reception/Conference Dinner?
If you have registered as a full conference registration, you will have a ticket to the Welcome Reception automatically included. Tickets to the Conference Dinner must be purchased separately. 

Please contact Iceberg Events to check which social function tickets you have within your registration.

Accessibility

I am unable to complete the online registration form. Is there an alternative way to register?
If you are unable to complete the online registration form, you can register by phoning Iceberg Events, the Conference Organisers, during business hours on +61 7 3876 4988. Brodi Newsome can assist you with completing your online registraiton. 

How can I register my personal interpreter/aide?
A reduced fee is available to register your personal interpreters/aides. You can add their registration on the webform when completing your registration via the below online forms. All attendees who are bringing along a personal interpreter/aide are required to register their personal interpreter/aides for them to access the conference.
