registrations are open now!

Dear Members,

We are pleased to open registrations for the 2021 FLPA Retreat and look forward to welcoming you at Peppers Noosa from 25 November 2021.  The Retreat Planning Committee has been working to bring you another memorable trip to the Sunshine Coast.

The post-Covid environment has required us to approach this year’s FLPA Retreat a little differently.  We acknowledge that you might need some information before taking the plunge to book for this year’s Retreat.

Firstly, the Retreat will be held in November, instead of the ‘usual’ June.  But we think that is not a bad thing, as it will be Summer, and it is a good chance for our members to mark the end of a busy year with a weekend getaway to the beach.

Secondly, we have the Queensland Government social distancing regulations to contend with, which means that we must, initially, cap our delegate numbers at 150, about 100 less than in prior years.  If Regulations change, we will certainly open up a further wave of registrations, later in the year – only time will tell as to whether this is possible.  Having this limited ‘window’ of delegates means that there will be no ‘early-bird’ offer this year – instead, 2021 tickets will be priced at $1,299 inc. GST for 2 days of CLE, attendance at the Conference welcome and closing drinks, and the cocktail event, the Summer Soiree.  This is a decision taken by the Committee to ensure that, with our only being able to host 150 delegates, the costs of hosting the event this year are covered.

Given events have been cancelled left, right and centre in the past 12 months, some members will naturally have a concern about booking. If Covid-19 fallout requires us to cancel the 2021 event, rest assured we will refund all registration fees, less a $110 administration fee, which will cover part of the event management costs already incurred by FLPA.

Thirdly, given the proximity of the Retreat to the end of year, FLPA’s annual celebration for members, often held as a Christmas party in late November, will be held in 2022 - we will, as we did this year, start the year off with a ‘Welcome to 2022’ function in January.  So, if you are wanting to get together with friends and colleagues before the end of 2021, the cocktail event at the Retreat, the Summer Soiree, will be the place to do it!  Think Summer evening cocktails in a coastal bush setting….

Despite all of these challenges, the FLPA Committee has felt it important to host an event which allows members to get together, to learn and to laugh – something we have missed during the past 12 months.  We are confident of bringing you a Conference where you will cover your CPD points, and socialise with friends and colleagues, as you always have at FLPA events.

For now, the message from the FLPA Committee is this - if you are keen to get away to Noosa this year, it is important to book now, as the 150 spots available will (we hope!) fill up quickly.
