The Honourable Justice Catherine Carew was first admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1981 in Queensland and as a solicitor and barrister in Victoria in 1983. Her Honour was called to the Queensland Bar in 1992 where her Honour practised in all jurisdictions. In later years her Honour specialised in family law appearing in both the trial and appellate divisions. In 2013 Her Honour was appointed Queen’s Counsel. Prior to her appointment to the Family Court of Australia in March 2016, her Honour was also an accreditor mediator and arbitrator.
