NQ Dry Tropics is an independent, not-for-profit Natural Resource Management (NRM) organisation that supports the Burdekin Dry Tropics community to sustainably manage its land and water. The 146,000km² Burdekin Dry Tropics region covers rural areas, and towns including Townsville, Charters Towers, Ayr, and Bowen. We work with community groups, landowners, industry, and all levels of government to better manage invasive species such as feral pigs and chital deer.
We work closely with our Regional Pest Management Group to prioritise and strategically manage pest damage across the whole of landscape using a nil tenure approach.
The 2016 QPAS provides a great opportunity to showcase North Queensland and discuss the opportunities, obstacles and outcomes that affect us all.
