Professor Roberto Umpierre

Presentation Topic: Tackling OPD waitlists with teleconsultations – experience in Brazil​

Roberto holds a medical degree (2002), a specialization in Public Health (2003) and a medical residency in Family and Community Medicine (2005). He holds a Master of Epidemiology, in Health Technology Assessment (2009). He was a consultant to United Nations for Primary Health Care (PHC) in 2005 and Coordinator of PHC in the Municipality of Charqueadas (2005-2007). He was a Family and Community Doctor of the Hospital Nossa Senhora da Conceição (GHC-POA / RS). He worked in the Home Care Program of this hospital and in a primary health care team, where he supervised the medical residency program in Family and Community Medicine between 2007 and 2012. He has been a member of the Brazilian Society of Family and Community Medicine (SBMFC) since 2001. He is currently a professor in the Department of Social Medicine, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He currently works in the Undergraduate and Medical Residency Program in Family and Community Medicine at Hospital de Clínicas de  Porto Alegre. He has worked for the Rio Grande do Sul Telehealth Centre which provides telehealth and telemedicine support to primary care in Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil since 2007 and now coordinates the work of the centre.
