After the success of the 2016 event, both hosts and major supporters want to continue the discussion around the conservations benefits that can be derived through the sustainable use of wildlife. Complete proceedings of that conference have been published in Baxter, Finch & Murray 2018 “Advances in conservation through sustainable use of wildlife” The University of Queensland, Australia, ISBN 978-0-646-99219-8.  Copies of those proceedings are available at From feedback about the 2016 conference, there are many others that attended the event that share a similar interest in this topic that also want to continue the discussion. Hence the next conference on the conservation of wildlife through sustainable use will be held:

26-28 September 2023 at the Pullman Brisbane King George Square, Brisbane, Queensland

The organising and editorial committee will be focused on creating conference themes that will provide an interesting program covering the topic of sustainable use across three full days. There will be no concurrent sessions so attendees will have the opportunity to see every presentation.

As was the case with the 2016 conference, the scope will be world-wide and there will be a number of invited speakers from around the world who will share their experiences gained in a variety of socio-economic contexts. Topics to be discussed will include, but not be limited to, ecological and biological topics. Presentations relating to economic, cultural, political, regulatory, and methodological aspects of conservation through sustainable use will also be considered. If your topic relates to conservation of wild plants or animals through their sustainable use, this will be your chance to tell others about it.
