Derry has over 20 years experience in the South African Health care sector, the last 15 of which have been spent in senior consultancy positions. He started consulting to corporate entities on internal health policy in 1999 with NMG Consultants and Actuaries, and has since advised a number of key institutions in the private health sector, including medical schemes, administrators, hospital groups, equity investors and fund managers and health facility developers. He was the Principal Technical Consultant at both Glenrand MIB and Absa Health Care Consultants from 2005 to the end of 2010.
During this time he also served as Chairman of the Distribution Sub-Committee for the LIMS programme, which concluded in 2007. In 2011 he took over as Head of Corporate Health Care Consulting at EOH.
In 2013, Derry moved to the EOH Health Vertical as an Executive Consultant and has been responsible for the development and implementation of the EOH Hospital in a Box concept, which is aimed specifically at parties who are looking to build new, or renovate existing health facilities. This process also involved aligning EOH with a number of key health funds as well as credible project sponsors, ensuring that the final execution of close to R3 billion worth of health infrastructure projects was a viable proposition.
