Dr Kate Churruca is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University. Dr Churruca's projects involve the application of complexity science to healthcare and using social-psychological theories to understand hospital organisational culture. She has published on understanding health systems through a complexity science lens, safety culture, and the application of broken-windows theory to healthcare context. Dr Churruca has previously led or worked on projects looking at women's experiences of bulimia, racism and educational outcomes, variation in coronial determination of intent for poisoning deaths, and risk communication in active surveillance for prostate cancer.
