Tony (Tao) Duan is the Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and former President & CEO of Shanghai 1st Maternity and Infant Hospital (SFMIH) of Tongji University.
He raised the budget, designed and built the new campus of the hospital, and turned the hospital into the biggest women’s hospital in China. Under his leadership, the number of annual birth of SFMIH leads in China for more than 4 years, reaching 33900+ in year 2016.
He established a big patient safety and quality improvement team in his hospital, started many patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, leading in women’s healthcare not only in service, but also in safety and quality.
He also established an innovation center in his hospital, worked closely with innovative companies, his hospital leads in mobile technology application in healthcare and AI application in healthcare.
He is also an academically active physician, his academic positions include:
- Honorary President of Chinese Perinatal Society
- Founding President of APAMFM（Asia Pacific Alliance for Maternal Fetal Medicine）
- Editorial Board of 4 International Journals of Obstetrics and Gynecology
In the year of 2017, he founded Shanghai Spring Field Hospital Management Company, the company provides professional services for woman and children hospitals.
